Jobs in Australia – Put Your Contracts Manager Skills To Good Use!

Another Ho-Hum day in paradise with more schizophrenic news from Australia.!  A snippet from the May 7th news reports that the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship has pegged its annual immigration target to below 170,000, despite the Business Council of Australia’s advice that it should look to increase the number by a further 10,000 to help keep the economy growing.

Not wishing to see the energy and resources industry boom slip behind targets through a lack of skilled immigration, it has urged the government to increase use of the temporary migration and 457 visas. The BCA would like to see around two-thirds of the immigration programme “skilled-based” to make sure Australia continues to get the skills necessary to keep the economy growing on an even keel.

What a shame it all fell on deaf ears!

Finding work in Australia is competitive enough already, although you are far better placed to find a job if your skills are in demand. Unfortunately, if you come to the table with skills that are not in demand, you will probably find it nearly impossible to find work or get a visa.

For those determined to succeed in emigrating, best case scenario in this situation is to find a skill required and retrain.

Well, today’s spotlight for jobs in Australia is on a Contracts manager. If that is you, put your skills to good use now and read on!

As you may know, we are currently doing a series highlighting jobs available in the mining and natural resources industry.  The reason for this is two-fold:  1) we have thousands of jobs available for skilled workers in this industry, and 2) many people skip over this sector believing it to be irrelevant. We are flagging up that fact that your skills, combined with this sector, may get your much coveted visa to Australia.

Our client today requires a contracts manager with a BA/BS degree in related field or applicable discipline, or with equivalent/relevant experience.  This will generally be around 10+ years with 7+ years in a supervisory/management capacity.

Extensive knowledge of commercial procurement laws, practices and standards in relation to project delivery is a must, and experience in hydrocarbons and/or mining (particularly coal) will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities include planning, formation, issuance, claims resolution, administration and closeout, establishing effective contracts, leadership, systems, methods and producedures, maintaining relationships with subcontractors, management of customers, support organisations and project team members, co-ordinating activities with project management, construction management and business development.

JobContinental’s main client base at the moment is in the Australian mining and natural resources industry, who require multiple thousands of skilled workers to help fulfil its contracts. (More sectors will be opening up this year – so make sure you continue to check us out).

We have access to thousands of jobs ready and waiting for the right people to walk straight into. Making the process even smoother, we also have recruitment partners in Oz with agents standing by to oversee the entire visa process for successful candidates.

As far as we know, this is the best Australian recruitment on offer, so email us at smallworlduk2@groupsw.com or leave a comment below. We reply to all emails and look forward to hearing from you soon.
